Learning to Understand Myself
For years, I was really good at focusing on understanding everyone around me. What took me much longer was learning to offer that same understanding to myself.
In this episode of Make It Make Sense, I'm sharing the experiences behind Feel Empowered Every Day and why “different doesn't mean wrong” became so personal to me. We talk about adapting to other people, losing sight of what's actually true for you, learning the difference between understanding and excusing behavior, and recognizing that your way of doing things doesn't automatically need to be fixed simply because it's different.
Understanding yourself doesn't mean you'll suddenly have yourself figured out. I certainly don't. But it gives you information and that information gives you choices.
So I'll leave you with the question I ask in this episode: What changes when you stop trying to figure out what's wrong with you and start trying to understand what's true about you?

Book of the Month
So much of feeling empowered comes down to knowing yourself well enough to stop living by someone else’s definition of who you should be.
This book is about self-discovery, perspective and becoming more intentional about the life you’re creating, which fits beautifully with the work I do around Self Intelligence and understanding your Personal Process.
Because the more you understand yourself, the easier it becomes to recognize what actually works for you and let go of what doesn’t.
A couple of my favorite lines are “Never say you’ve learned everything you need to know about yourself.” and “One of the most important things in life is dedicating yourself to yourself. Give yourself permission to explore your inner being before trying to figure out the external forces that surround you.”
